Greenwich Music & Art Camp Completes Original Animation, "Market Marathon"

Greenwich Music & Art Camp Completes Original Animation, "Market Marathon"

YouTube Clip

In the first week of July 2014, campers who attended the Greenwich Music & Art Camp's afternoon program formed a Digital Animation Club and became determined to make their own cartoon.  These students created the characters, settings, conflicts, titles, and soundtrack for an original animation titled "Market Marathon: Lime vs. Lemon."  The 2-minute stop-motion cartoon was made using "LapseIt," a free app for iPhones and iPads.  The campers invented make-shift studios using upside-down chairs, yard sticks, masking tape, construction paper, and the campers' own electronic devices.  The students became Directors, Storyboarders, Cartoonists, and Animators to bring this original story to life.  The animation project is the first of its kind for the Department of Parks & Rec, with 30 middle school students and 15 elementary school students contributing to the short film's final version, now available on YouTube and posted at GCartooning.blogspot.com.  This fall, the Department of Parks & Rec is offering a Digital Animation Club workshop this on Monday afternoons at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center.  For information on this program contact GreenwichCartooningChronicles@yahoo.com.
